At James’s Place we pride ourselves on offering our members what they want to do. As much time as possible is spent out of doors, so if you want to try anything from racing a model car around an outdoor track, to driving a ride-on lawn mower around the grounds to singing round a campfire on a wintery afternoon we’re happy to do all we can to make it happen.
For those who want to take part in less strenuous activities there’s art, craft, cookery, music, quizzes, games, soap making, jewellery making, glass, silk, wood and stone painting and many other activities on offer.
Of course we plan “special” events during the year – such as kite-making, star-gazing and cider making – just watch out for the newsletter!
Why not take part in James’s Challenge? This is a new venture for James’s Place – 50+ activities, all with clearly defined learning outcomes, and progression routes, for people of all abilities. Ranging from walking down to the river to see what happens when you throw a stone in, to being part of the team that prepares and serves a cream tea to local charities, to being on the committee that organises the James’s Place Christmas Ball – the whole booklet allows you to record in various ways how you met the challenges set by James. Designed to promote self-confidence, encourage independence, and foster a community spirit, James’s Challenge is exciting, fun-filled and different!
