James's Challenges are for everyone!

In 2016 we were lucky to receive funding from The Big Lottery to introduce James's Challenges.  These challenges are designed to give people with additional needs better chances in life, promote stronger communities and to encourage people to adopt healthier and more active lifestyles.  Each challenge is tailored to the needs of the individual, and has multiple learning outcomes which relate to the aims above.  In all there are more than 60 challenges ranging from the fairly straightforward to the complex.  All of them are fun, challenging and achievable by anyone.

An EASY CHALLENGE?

For some people just walking down to the river, throwing in a stone and then coming back TO TELL EVERYONE ELSE about it is a huge challenge.  This challenge helps with observation, recording, awareness of safety, communication and exercise.

BUILDING ON THE CHALLENGE BEFORE

After walking down to the river, explore more of your local environment.  James's Place has a display in the local church which needs to be kept up regularly.  This challenge encourages teamwork, exercise, communication, craft, recording, road safety awareness and working for others.

A CHALLENGE INVOLVING TEAMWORK

Twice a year James's Place Community Group has a fundraising fete, in the Summer and at Christmas.  Members are encouraged to become more involved in arranging, contacting stall holders and participating in these fetes.  This challenge is all about organisational skills, prioritising, meeting targets, being reliable, working as part of a team, communication - and financial skills.
